measurements and what they mean

I took all the usual measurements today and this is what I have:

  • PH: 8.39
  • Temp: 83.0F
  • Sg: 1.029
  • KH: 5 dKH
  • Ca: 350ppm
  • Mg: 1470ppm
So, the conclusion is:
  • My salinity is a bit high but I haven't added my top-off yet
  • Mg is a bit high (target is 1350ppm but UI'm still keeping it a bit higher to see if coloration will improve.
  • Alkaninty & Calcium (KH & Ca) is at it's lowest ever. There could be a couple of reasons, one is that the Bulk Reef Supply doesn't have the same concentration as the B-ionic. At first I thought that the Mg would have anything to do with it but that's not the case, if anything, the elevated Mg levels should have slowed down the precip of Alk and CA. So I will increase the dosing of Alk and CA.
I will use some powder form to raise Alk for now, together with the BRS mix.
